Chick-fil-A Proposed for Former Rite Aid Site in Palmer Township

PALMER TOWNSHIP, Pa. – A proposal has been submitted to bring a new Chick-fil-A restaurant to Palmer Township, replacing the former Rite Aid building at 25th Street and William Penn Highway.
The site, located at 601 South 25th Street across from Wawa and near the Palmer Town Centre retail complex, sits at one of the busiest intersections in the township. According to preliminary plans, the project calls for demolishing the existing building and constructing a freestanding Chick-fil-A with indoor seating and drive-thru service.
This would be the second Chick-fil-A in the Easton area, joining the existing location in Lower Nazareth Township on Dryland Way. The proposed Palmer site would serve traffic from surrounding communities including Forks Township and capture shoppers visiting nearby retailers such as Giant, Home Depot, and Wawa.
Residents have reacted with a mix of enthusiasm and caution. Many are eager for a closer Chick-fil-A and the jobs it could create, while others have raised concerns about increased traffic at an already busy intersection.
The plan remains in the early stages. The Palmer Township Planning Commission is expected to review site plans, traffic studies, and zoning considerations before making a recommendation to the Board of Supervisors. Any final approval would clear the way for construction to begin.
If approved, the new restaurant would add to the commercial growth along 25th Street and William Penn Highway, joining a roster of national and local businesses that make up one of the township’s primary retail hubs.
